What is Setup Wizard?
Setup Wizard is the setup and preparation system that guides you step by step the first time you open Companion and creates the basic settings the app needs to work. Its goal isn't to make you configure everything, but to get you ready for the protection system.
How long does setup take?
Setup takes 3–5 minutes on average. It's completed quickly and easily with a 5-step configuration that guides you through your profile details, Check-in Time and system permissions.
Do I have to grant every permission?
Granting the required permissions is recommended so the system can work fully. However, Setup Wizard only asks for the basic permissions the protection system needs. You can also manage permissions later from the Settings screen.
How do I restore my backup when moving to a new phone?
During setup, the first Setup Wizard screen offers a "Restore from Backup" option. Choose a backup file taken earlier to restore all your settings, reminders and places within minutes.
Is there different guidance for my phone brand?
Yes. Setup Wizard detects your phone's brand and gives permission guidance tailored to brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus, walking you step by step through each brand's settings menus.
Can I change settings after setup?
Yes. After setup, you can change, edit or add features to every setting from Companion's Settings screen. Setup Wizard only provides the initial configuration.
Can I run setup again?
Yes. You can run Setup Wizard again with the "Restart Wizard" option on the Settings screen. This is especially useful when setting up a new phone or when you want to reset your settings.
